Nikkei gains 0.5 percent
Japan's Nikkei 225 index headed north,
with sentiment still buoyed by gains in the US dollar against the yen.
Among gainers, blue-chip Canon rallied 1.1 percent, while heavyweight
components including SoftBank and Fanuc rose 0.8 percent each.
