Nikkei gains 0.6 percent
Japan's Nikkei 225 index extended gains
but at a modest pace, compared to Wednesday's 1.3 percent jump.
Banks and brokerages underpinned the bourse; Sumitomo Mitsui Financial
Group and Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group rallied nearly 1 percent each, while
Daiwa Securities and Nomura Holdings elevated1.8 and 0.3 percent respectively.
